from the Infinite Consciousness
“Turmoil in the Middle East right now is not from mainstream Islamists. As in any culture or nation, there are radical individuals. All of humanity is involved in this stewpot, because how you feel and respond indicates your own emotional temperament and growth.
“Islamists—Muslims—respect others, as do most peoples and religions. It matters only if your are kind and tolerant, whatever your faith. Christians, Jews, and Muslims are all people striving to be better people in the world. The religions are agencies that may provide support and teach wisdom.
“The truly spiritual person—in any religion—is one who realizes that not all people are able to be reflective. The spiritual person—in any religion—is able to be calm and rational, even when emotions are distraught.
“Keep this in mind, true for all: Words are power. Words may heal or inflame. And every person is responsible for the consequences of his words. Actions are borne out of one’s words, one’s thoughts, feelings, attitudes. To have a healing influence on others, speaking healing words, offer healing ideas—rather than be confrontational.
“Engaging in revenge, retribution, hostility only further inflames a situation. To nullify violence, respond from a clear mind and centered balanced emotions. Do not be sucked into the storm. To nullify egregious acts by others, yes they must bear the consequences of their choices—but with them, be as a firm leader: resolute, but calm. Do not be sucked into the storm and frenzy where all reason is lost. Refrain. Stand firm. Be clear in mind. Be diligent in duty. Be vocal even—but with wise words.
“Inflammatory language is from the ego—and serves only to fuel resentment and volatile reactions. Listen in the midst of the storm. Know your own reason. Temper your own fury. In the middle of volatile situations, be a calm voice. And for yourself, pull into you the clear cold light of wisdom. This is your strength.
“The wise one is he or she who does not add to the fire—but, instead, moves steadily, with purpose, through it. Live in your clear calm center. There you can see and feel the way to heal those who are lost in their own enraged reactions. Do not add increase to the fury. Rather, be calm. Dispassionate. This is strength.”
